Van Newman (they/he) is a queer and transmasculine screenwriter, strategist, and creative ecosystems builder.
As a writer, Van's work lives at the intersections of technology, power, identity and desire. Their stories center characters whose identities and ambitions collide with formidable powers to explore how people resist, navigate, or are consumed by the systems designed to control them.
Van is a 2026 Social Resonance Lab Storytelling Research Fellow, 2025 Lambda Literary LGBTQ Emerging Voices Screenwriting Fellow, 2024 Disruptors Fellow and 2022 Hillman Grad Mentorship Lab TV Writing Mentee. Van is writing their first feature for Trevor Noah's production company, Day Zero. They are represented by Anonymous Content.
As a community-driven creative strategist and storyteller, Van has spent over a decade architecting brand narratives, experiential programming and audience ecosystems for VC-backed startups and mission-driven companies across tech, media, and cultural institutions.
